Pastor Ted begins his ministry here at Northwood in January 2008. He has been an ordained minister in the Christian
Church (Disciples of Christ) for over twenty-one years.  A graduate from the Graduate Seminary of Phillips University in
Oklahoma, he has served congregations in Oklahoma, Ohio, Indiana, and in the state of Washington. Ted has written and
translated a number of published books dealing with the theme of  spiritual transformation.  The heart of his passion lies
in assisting each person to experience the reality of the Holy and to “taste and see” how good is our God. Communicating
the life-changing Word especially through preaching and teaching are central to his gifts in ministry.  He is also deeply
committed to evangelism, especially among seekers who find it difficult to enter a church for the meaning and the answers
they crave.  Pastor Ted is available for spiritual guidance and counseling.

Carrie Sample, Office Administrator

After leaving a career in sales, Carrie has enjoyed helping people in the building and getting to use her creativity to help
bring Northwood up to date with today’s technology. Not just “the church secretary,” Carrie edits The Northwood News and
maintains this website. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from DePauw University (1996). A fiber
arts fanatic, Carrie recently started the Kindred Spirits Shawl Ministry, a group that knits and crochets items for those in
need of comfort or warmth. She joyfully spends as much time as possible playing with and chasing after her two young
sons Elijah and Isaiah. A member of Northwood for about five years, Carrie most enjoys getting to be an active part in the
life of the church not only on Sunday, but also the other six days of the week!

and Stephens University, Sherry continued her studies and today holds two Master degrees in piano and organ from the
American Conservatory of Music (Chicago).  Her graduate work in harp was completed at Valparaiso University, and she
has completed some doctoral work in organ at Florida State.  She regularly performs with her trio (piano, violin, cello) at
many venues in the Indianapolis area, as well as Florida and Puerto Rico and yet she continues to teach all three
instruments privately with an average of 20-40 students per week.  Sharon's many gifts are sure to bring joy to all of us
who listen to her play!   Her musical gifts can be heard at http://sharonwatsonmusic.com/

Christian Theological Seminary.  He holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Indiana University and has taken Graduate

Omar Contreras, Custodian

Omar, our custodian, says his favorite thing about working here is helping us do what needs to get done.  He certainly
helps us out in many ways besides keeping the building in top shape.  Always willing to go the extra mile, he recently
added to our Children's Sunday School closet and plowed the Hunger Garden.  He also sets up our weddings and meetings
here at Northwood.  Originally from Chihuahua, Mexico, Omar is an avid Pacers and Colts fan and also a deacon at Iglesia
Hermandad Cristiana--our sister church that recently found a permanent home.  Omar has two sons and a daughter whom
he loves to spend time with.

Jan Scott, Financial Assistant
Jan Scott helps us out here at Northwood by making sure the financial office runs smoothly. Jan has been an accountant
since 1965. She has a daughter, a son-in-law and a son. along with 6 grandchildren that she loves to do things with.  Jan
also enjoys reading and sewing.   She is originally from Michigan, but moved to Florida in 1997.  Jan came to Indiana in
2003 to be closer to her grandkids.

Leslie Brinson, Childcare Attendant

Next time you are at Northwood on a Sunday morning, introduce yourself to Leslie Brinson, who is already hard at work in
our church nursery.  Leslie begins her work early each Sunday morning so our 8:30 worshippers can have the same loving
childcare opportunities as those who come to our 10:45 service.  Leslie will also give assistance to our Sunday morning
teachers as needed.  She comes to us from Butler University where she is a senior in horn performance, German, and
English.  She brings experience in working with children at her home church in Evansville, Indiana and comes highly
recommended by previous employers for this position.
